Agriculture and irrigation

Did you know that agriculture is by far the largest water use at global level? In fact, irrigation of agricultural lands represents 70% of the water used worldwide.

But in several developing countries such as India, future agricultural development strategies depend significantly on the possibility to maintain, and improve the irrigated agriculture, as it represents for them up to 95% of all water uses. Water used for agriculture comes from natural sources such as rainwater, surface water like lakes and rivers, or other alternative sources, such as the reuse of municipal wastewater and drainage water.

Hatchery and other fish stocks are highly susceptible to infection coming from natural fish populations in the water feeding the farm, which can cause outbreaks of viral and bacterial fish diseases. An effective water treatment UV disinfection system is therefore essential to treat water entering and circulating within fish farms.

Water treatment UV is ideally suited for this application as it does not change any aspect of the water; it just destroys the micro-organisms, including viruses, while chlorine is more appropriate to kill bacteria than viruses, and being much more expensive. Ultra Violet is the most efficient, economical and environmentally friendly alternative.
