Logarithm (log)

The logarithm (log) of a number is the exponent by which another value (the base) must be raised to produce that number (e.g. 103 means logarithm of 1000 to base 10 is 3). The logarithm to base 10 is called the common logarithm, and the term “log” is its usual abbreviation.
