Logarithm (log)

The logarithm (log) of a number is the exponent by which another value (the base) must be raised to produce that number (e.g. 10³ means logarithm of 1000 to base 10 is 3). The logarithm to base 10 is called the common logarithm, and the term “log” is its usual abbreviation.
