Herpes simplex

Herpes is the most common infectious disease of the skin, and is caused by the herpes simplex virus. Although usually occurring as lip herpes or cold sores, it also affects other parts of the skin, and there are, for the moment, no curative treatments for herpes simplex infections. This virus exhibits a relatively high UVC sensitivity in laboratory trials, with an average lethal dose (LD90) of 5 mJ/cm2.
