Disinfection

Disinfection does not necessarily kill all microorganisms; it is less effective than sterilisation, which kills all types of life, whereas disinfection generally means a reduction of pathogenic microorganisms by a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 log steps. The term “UV disinfection” describes in fact the inactivation of at least 99.9% of a given pathogenic population thanks to UV technology.
