Biofilm

Microorganisms like bacteria or algae are often embedded in thin slime layer (film) called Biofilms, which form mainly in water systems. These organisms are active inside the biofilms, and growing, spreading as well continuously new microbes into the water. This contaminate e.g. cooling systems or water reservoirs.
