Amino acid

Amino acids are organic compounds of amine (-NH2) and carboxylic acid (-COOH) with specific side-chains (-R) which join together in long chains to form proteins, neurotransmitters, and transport. Amino acids primarily contain hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon; they form one of the basic building blocks of life.
